Common Questions

See some common questions and answers below, or email us with a full description of your situation.
  • How do I repair a broken piece?

While we stand by the durability of our product, if these ornaments are dropped on hard surfaces or intentionally bent, accidents can happen from time to time.  I recommend you use SuperGlue GEL to repair the break.  Put a small amount on and secure together, holding for at least 15 seconds.  It should be fine.  If there is an uneven seal at the glued break, you can try taking a piece of superfine grade sandpaper and gently rubbing the seam until the break is unnoticeable.

  • What kind of clay do you use? Will it deteriorate like my old bread dough ornaments?

We use a durable polymer clay to craft our ornaments.  This clay will not deteriorate like bread dough, and they have been baked to ensure durability.  You also do not need to worry about heat and moisture in the same way that bread dough ornaments needed to be cared for.  Store these reasonably as you would other precious Christmas decorations.

  • My dog ate my ornament!? What do I do?

The clay we use advertises that it is safe and non-toxic for children or pets.  To be on the safe side, we recommend you call your physician or veternarian.

  • Can I change a name after it has been personalized?

Admittedly, this can be tricky to do.  What we recommend you try are the following steps.

    1. Take a very sharp, thin knife and gently scrape with light pressure across the  personalized name.
    2. If there are grooves from the knife blad scraping the clay, try using a superfine piece of sandpaper to smooth out the grooves.
    3. If there are scratch marks embedding in the clay, take a damp cloth and gently rub the surface of the clay.  Sometimes the moisture will smooth and return the color back to it's original consistency.
    4. Use a permanent pen to rewrite the desired name.

You can always bring the ornament to one of our craft shows or sent it to us and we can fix it for you with no problems!

  • Do you wholesale?

Retailers are welcome to contact us.

  • What kind of pen do you use?

We use Pilot ultra fine point permanent pens.  If you are unable to locate those, you may try a Sharpie ultra fine or fine point permanent marker.

  • How should I store my beautiful new ornaments?

Store our clay ornaments the same way you would any of your other holiday decorations.  There should be no problem with heat or moisture with these ornaments.  Just be sure that heavy items are not placed on top of them!   In our homes, we just wrap them in soft paper towel or tissue paper and place them in RubberMaid shoebox totes.

  • Do you take special requests?

Unfortunately the holiday season is extremely busy for me and it is very difficult for me to keep up with special orders.  However, I am open to attempting any special requests at other times of the year.  The earlier you contact me, the better!

  • How long will it take to get my order?

Orders usually ship no later than 10-14 days after the order.  That being said, I'm at the post office every day during our busy season and aim to get your order out within a few days of your order.  If it is a special order, I will let you know - it will depend on how backed up we are.

  • When is the last day to order to ensure my ornaments get here before Christmas?

Again, because the holiday season is extremely busy for J's Clays, please place your orders by December 5th.  In case of an "emergency" after that date, please contact us and we'll be able to let you know if we will be able to fill your order.  We always try to accomodate if we have the inventory and the time.  Thanks!
